KeyShot System Requirements

Engineered for KeyShot. Built for Lightning-Fast Product Visualization.

KeyShot is one of the fastest and easiest-to-use 3D rendering tools on the market. But when your project includes high-res models, complex lighting, and animations, you’ll need more than a basic machine to keep things fluid.

At Signa, we’ve tested KeyShot with real-world product, jewelry, and automotive workflows. Whether you’re working with STEP files, sculpted assets, or scanned textures, our systems are designed to help you render faster, preview instantly, and deliver with zero delays.

⚙️ Processor (CPU) – KeyShot’s Core Engine

KeyShot is primarily CPU-based, especially for users using KeyShot's classic ray tracing engine. Rendering speed scales directly with the number of cores and threads in your processor.

Recommended CPUs for KeyShot:

  • AMD Ryzen 9 7950X / 9950X

  • Intel Core Ultra 9 285K

  • Threadripper Pro (for studios and large batch render work)

KeyShot takes full advantage of multi-core CPUs. A high core-count processor means faster final renders and smoother performance when adjusting scenes and materials.

💡 Prefer GPU rendering? KeyShot also supports NVIDIA RTX via its GPU mode—we’ll help you choose the right balance based on your workflow.

Graphics Card (GPU) – Optional, but Powerful

KeyShot’s real-time viewport doesn’t rely on the GPU by default, but if you enable GPU mode, your NVIDIA RTX GPU will be used to accelerate renders using CUDA cores.

Recommended GPUs (for GPU mode):

  • NVIDIA RTX 5090 – Maximum performance for large product scenes

  • NVIDIA RTX 5080 / 5070 – Great balance for high-res rendering

  • RTX 5000 Ada (Pro Series – ideal for team workflows and long-term reliability)

Why NVIDIA?
GPU rendering in KeyShot is CUDA-only—NVIDIA cards are required. The higher the VRAM and CUDA core count, the better your GPU render performance.

Memory (RAM) – Smooth Scene Editing

Whether you’re working with massive CAD files or multiple 8K textures, system RAM is critical to keep KeyShot stable and fast.

Recommended RAM:

  • Minimum: 32GB

  • Ideal for professionals: 64GB

  • Large scenes / multitasking: 128GB+

More memory ensures you can load complex geometry, HDR environments, and layered materials without slowdowns.

Storage (Drives) – Don’t Let Load Times Kill Creativity

KeyShot scenes often include large textures, assets, and high-res render outputs. Using fast storage ensures your workflow stays responsive from start to finish.

Recommended setup:

  • Primary Drive: 1TB–2TB NVMe SSD for OS and KeyShot

  • Secondary NVMe SSD: For project files and animation exports

  • Archive: Large HDD or NAS for long-term backups

Why NVMe?
NVMe drives reduce save/load times and speed up asset streaming—especially when rendering animations or batch jobs.
