Fun fact: Back in 2014 Bing introduced ๐Ÿ”Ž search-by-emoji and it worked pretty well โœ”. The big G was a little late to the party but Google now supports search by emoji as well.

While this doesn't seem that useful, most of us are using emojis more and more, to get a quick point across with minimal typing. Maybe someday quick phone search for coffee will be โ˜• near me.ย

To try it on Windows 10:

  • go to Google search in browser
  • press and hold Windows key, then . (period)
  • choose your emoji, like ๐Ÿ•near me, then Go!
  • if emojis don't pop up, click your windows gear icon for settings and set language for United States and remove the Canadian Language settings, and your emojis should now display ๐Ÿ˜โœ”

ย It's easiest to try searching by emoji on your phone, it should work, and is bound to get better with more relevant results as time โŒš goes on.ย
